Hi!
I’m Anastasia, a freelance writer based in South London. I work in programmes management in the charity sector and have an interest in communities, migration and tackling loneliness, particularly focused on arts-based interventions in these areas. In summer 2022, I will be taking part in the Venice Biennale Fellowship programme, in collaboration with the British Council.
I am half-Greek, half-British and grew up mostly in the (massively underrated!) city of Birmingham. I moved to London aged 19 to pursue a career in fashion buying, before a career change into the charity sector four years later.
My dual heritage, working-class background and experience of living in two of Britain’s largest (although very different) cities informs my work and writing. I am interested in all things linked to communities and culture, including communal spaces, migration, tackling loneliness and improving access to the arts.
I have always loved reading and writing, but somehow lost these passions in the chaos of London life. So in 2020, I took a short course at City Lit in Creative Non-Fiction and rediscovered my love of writing and learning. During the pandemic, I decided to finally do a university degree, and have just finished my second year of a BA Liberal Arts degree at Birkbeck, University of London, which I have been doing alongside my work in the charity sector.
